Volunteer as a Group at A Wider Circle
A great way for your business to give back is by helping with our Essential Support program. If you would like to schedule a visit as a group contact us at groups@awidercircle.org.
What kinds of on-site volunteer opportunities are available for groups?
Groups serve in our warehouse as a part of our Essential Support program. This program focuses on providing basic need items for the home to our neighbors seeking to rise out of poverty. The donations we receive include household furniture, linens, kitchen items, toys, baby items and baby clothing, rugs, art, books, lamps, and professional clothing and accessories. Volunteers help us to sort donations and stock the showrooms where our clients select their items. In addition, volunteers unload donations from vehicles that pull up to our warehouse to drop off donations, help load furniture and other items into client vehicles, and take donated items (bags of clothing, boxes of toys, etc.) to the appropriate section in our warehouse.
What days and times are on-site group opportunities available?
On-site group opportunities are available Tuesday through Saturday with possible shifts of either 10:00 am to 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm,
Are there age requirements for groups?
Older youth are welcome to volunteer in a group as long as they are accompanied by the appropriate number of adult chaperones. Middle School-age youth require 1 chaperone per 6 youth. High School-age youth require 1 chaperone per 9 youth. We appreciate chaperones helping to make this volunteer experience possible for youth. We ask that you lead: ensuring safety, keeping youth on task, behaving appropriately (no: running, roughhousing, bad language, etc.), and ensuring they are only approving good quality items to be provided to clients.
