Description of Volunteer Engagement
A Wider Circle is the region's leading furniture bank - we redistribute a wide range of quality furniture, household items, and clothing to our neighbors in need, furnishing roughly 100 homes each week free of charge! Volunteer with us this MLK day to assist us in sorting and restoring items and preparing our warehouse for the year to come.
Client Privacy
While we would love for you to capture great memories of your experience at A Wider Circle, we also want to ensure the privacy of those we serve. Therefore, we kindly ask that you refrain from taking pictures in the showroom where clients are present. Pictures can ONLY be taken outside the main entrance or in the warehouse downstairs while sorting and preparing items for families.
What to Wear
- Closed-toed shoes (sneakers are best)
- Comfortable, family-friendly clothing (please avoid political messages)
- Our center is not fully temperature-controlled, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
Parking
We do not have on-site parking for volunteers except for individuals with mobility concerns. Here are parking instructions for our off-site parking:
Neighborhood parking for Individual Drivers:
- Address: 2101 Luzerne Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910 (use this as a landmark)
- Parking: You may park anywhere along Luzerne Ave (except for #2201 & #2203), Louis St., Louis Ave., and Glen Ross Rd.
- **PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON WARREN STREET.**
Bus Parking:
If your group is arriving by bus, please have the driver drop you off at 9159 Brookville Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20910. We do not have bus parking at our site. A nearby public parking lot is at 9301 Sutton Pl, Forest Glen, MD 20910.
When you arrive, please enter through the double glass doors. A staff member will sign you in and provide further directions.
